4 External Services

We use various services from third-party providers on our website. Below, we explain which services we use, why we use them, and what data is collected.

4.1 External Services

This website uses various services from the provider Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. The individual services are explained in more detail in the following section.

In general, with the use of the services and the associated collection of personal data (especially the IP address), we pursue a legitimate interest in presenting the offer on our website in an appealing manner, analyzing it, improving it, and adapting potential advertising to your needs (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).

Google Analytics

Google Analytics uses “cookies.” They are stored on your computer and allow an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

IP Anonymization

We have activated IP anonymization on this website. As a result, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states that are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services related to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

Opting Out of Data Collection

You can prevent the storage of cookies by configuring your browser software accordingly; however, please note that if you do so, you may not be able to use all the features of this website to their full extent. In addition, you can prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

You can also prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set in your browser, which prevents the collection of your data on future visits to this website with your current browser: Deactivate Google Analytics.

For more information on how Google Analytics handles user data, please refer to Google’s privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=en.

Data Processing Agreements

We have concluded a data processing agreement for the use of Google Analytics and fully comply with the strict data protection regulations when using these services.

Demographic Features in Google Analytics

This website uses the “demographic features” function of Google Analytics. This allows reports to be created that contain statements about the age, gender, and interests of the site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising by Google and visitor data from third-party providers. This data cannot be assigned to a specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time in the ad settings in your Google account or generally prohibit Google Analytics from collecting your data as described in the previous section.

Google Analytics Remarketing

This feature allows the creation of advertising target groups generated with Google Analytics Remarketing to be linked to the cross-device capabilities of Google AdWords and Google DoubleClick. This way, interest-based, personalized advertising messages that have been adapted to your previous usage and surfing behavior on one device (e.g., mobile) can also be displayed on another of your devices (e.g., tablet or PC).

If you have given your consent to Google for this purpose, Google will link your web and app browsing history to your Google account for this purpose. This allows the same personalized advertising messages to be displayed on every device on which you sign in with your Google account.

To support this feature, Google Analytics collects Google-authenticated IDs of users that are temporarily linked to our Google Analytics data to define and create target groups for cross-device ad display.

You can permanently object to cross-device remarketing/targeting by disabling personalized advertising in your Google account. To do this, follow this link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/.

The consolidation of the data collected in your Google account takes place solely based on your consent, which you can give or revoke at Google (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). For data collection processes that are not merged into your Google account (for example, because you do not have a Google account or have objected to the merge), the collection of data is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. The legitimate interest arises from the fact that the website operator has an interest in the anonymous analysis of website visitors for advertising purposes.

Further information and the privacy policy can be found in Google’s data protection declaration: https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking

As part of Google AdWords, we use the so-called conversion tracking. When you click on an ad placed by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is set. These cookies expire after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages on this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.

Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies cannot be tracked through AdWords customer websites. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers receive the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that personally identifies users. If you do not want to participate in tracking, you can object to this use by disabling the Google Conversion Tracking cookie through your Internet browser’s user settings. You will not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

More information about Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking can be found in Google’s privacy policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/.
